what does copyright mean?

  • The legal right given to an originator to publish something.
  • copyright  occurs when a work is publicly displayed.
  • copyright protection ends when it expires.

Public Domain

  • not a place.
  • time after copyright protection ends
  • where a person can use the product
  • without getting permission from the original owner.

Fair Use

  • the purpose and character of your use
  • the nature of the copyrighted work
  • the amount and substantiality of the portion taken,and
  • the effect of the use upon the potential market.
  • fair use is the copying of copyrighted work for a limited purpose.

  • organization in California that helps publish creative woks.
