Conduction

by: Jannet & Kimberly

Conduction: the transfer of heat between two parts of a stationary system, caused by a temperature difference between the parts.

In cooking: Heat warms the bottom of the pan and climbs up the sides. The pan then heats the food and utensil being used to cook the food.

Examples

  • A pot sitting on a hot burner
  • Picking up a hot cup of coffee
  • Using a heating blanket to get warm
