FIVE PILLARS OF ISLAM

FAITH

• All believers must testify to a certain statement
• Statement expresses ones complete commitment to Islam
• "There is no God but Allah, and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah."

PRAYER

• They pray five times a day every single day
• They face the holy city of Mecca when they pray
• Usually pray at a worship place called a mosque

CHARITY

• They believe they are responsible to support the less fortunate
• Giving up of each Muslims possessions for the welfare of their entire community
• Charity is equal to 2.5% of an individuals net worth excluding family obligations

FASTING

• Happens during the holy month of Ramadan
• Muslims don't eat or drink anything between sunrise and sunset
• Reminds them their are more important things in life than eating

PILGRAMAGE

• All Muslims expected to take one pilgrimage to Mecca In Their lifetime
• Their pilgrimage they take is also known as a hajj
• The most significant manifestation of the Islamic faith and unity in the world
