EDGAR ALLAN POE

Edgar was born on January 19th, 1809 in Boston, MA.

His mother, Elizabeth Arnold Hopkins Poe, died of tuberculosis when he was 2.

After his father fled, Edgar lived with foster parents John & Francis Allan.

In 1815 Edgar began attending Misses Duborg Boarding School.

Eventually he attended the University of Virgina but left due to debts.

In 1827, Poe published his first book, "Tamerlane and Other Poems".

Later, in 1829, Edgar published his second book, "Al Aaraf".

In 1830, Edgar's foster father made him attend the US Military Academy.

Poe was shortly court-martialed from West Point for "deliberately disobeying orders".

Poe rushed home when he discovered John Allen was dying. He passed away 1831.

In 1835, Poe got an editors Job for the Southern Literary Messenger.

A year later he married Virginia. She was 13 at the time.

In 1845, Edgar Poe published "The Raven".

His wife, Virginia, died in 1847 of tuberculosis.

In 1848, Poe got engaged to poet Sarah Helen Whitman.

Then, in 1849, Poe got engaged to Sarah Elmira Royster.

Edgar Allan Poe died on October 7th, 1849
