PRESENTATION OUTLINE

SAT LESSON 14 VOCABULARY

BY: BRIANNA HALL

PRODIGIOUS

  • My teacher gave us a huge amount of
  • homework, a prodigious task by anyone's standards.

PERIPHERAL

  • You must use your peripheral vision when
  • performing in a marching band so that you can
  • watch those on each side of you while you look
  • straight ahead.

PARODY

  • The comedian's skit was a parody of the
  • recent inaugural address; although it was
  • intended to be funny, not many people
  • laughed.

EQUIVOCATE

  • Witnesses are encouraged to tell the truth and
  • not to attempt to equivocate; telling lies on the
  • witness stand is punishable.

HEDONISTS

  • The world is becoming full of hedonists who are
  • only interested in fulfilling their sensual desires
  • and nothing more.

RESPITE

  • A quiet walk in the woods would be a nice
  • respite from the drudgery of city life; we all
  • need a relaxing break once in a while.

INTERMINABLE

  • Although the reading assignment was only
  • ten pages, it seemed interminable to the bored
  • students.

NAIVE

  • Even a beginner should not be so naive
  • and so unsophisticated as she is.

CRYPTIC

  • The meaning of the cryptic note was hidden
  • from everyone who looked at it.

AVARICE

  • The avarice of the man was obvious when he
  • wanted everything he saw; it was the result of being
  • raised in such a greedy family.
