DOWN SYNDROME

CAUSE

• Down syndrome is a genetic disease caused by a 21 chromosome disorder

SYMPTOMS

• Down syndrome causes a distinct facial appearance, intellectual disability, developmental delays, and may be associated with thyroid or heart disease.

TREATMENT

• There is no known prevention or treatment for Down syndrome

LIFESPAN

• Today, the average life span of a person with Down syndrome is 60
