How to take perfect pictures

By: Rachel Ha

Understand your camera

  • You must first read the camera's
  • manual to learn the basic actions, like how to turn on flash,
  • how to zoom in and zoom out, and how to use the shutter
  • button.

Finding photo opportunities

  • Take your camera everywhere with you. If you
  • are on a trip, you have more opportunities of taking
  • interesting, beautiful, eye-catching pictures. You
  • will also get used to your cameras, so each time, you will
  • take better pictures.

Finding photo opportunities (cont'd)

  • Get outside! If you go outside, you will also have
  • more picture opportunities and you will get used to
  • the light in day and night, so you know when to zoom in,
  • zoom out, flash on or flash off. Lighting is dramatic
  • and will emphasize your picture!!

Taking care of your camera

  • Make sure you clean your camera regularly,
  • especially the lens. If they are dirty, you can
  • see smudges in the picture. Make sure your
  • fingers are not in the picture too! They block a
  • part in the picture and no one wants to see that!

Set your balance

  • Find your balance. If you are shaky, your
  • picture will come out blurry and distorted.
  • Also think of buying a tripod, a stand with three
  • legs. It steadies the camera for you so you can be
  • comfortable. Steady it, and snap! There is your shot.

Set your balance (cont'd)

  • Try NOT using a tripod. That way, you can
  • find your balance quicker and it will get
  • way more easier to find your balance.
  • You also have to hold the camera properly. With your left
  •  hand, cup the lens from the bottom and snap with your right hand!

Think about your photos.

  • Imagine the picture before you take it. That way,
  • when you take it, you are satisfied with your picture
  • instead of deleting it and starting over. The good ways
  • of taking a picture is to angle it so you don't get window glares,
  • and make sure the background isn't distracting and cluttered..

Fill your frame

  • Fill in your frame with the subject. Sometimes,
  • when a subject is too far away, it isn't as attractive.
  • It also sometimes makes the subject more prettier
  • if you do it on an angle. Focus on your subject, too.
  • Bad focus makes the picture blurry and unfocused.

Look through your pictures

  • As you look through your pictures, you can
  • pick which ones are the best and which ones
  • are not as good. You can delete the bad pictures
  • and choose the better pictures. In that way you
  • have better pictures AND you are organized.

look at your pictures later

  • If you take a picture and look at it right away,
  • you might miss a special moment or a great opportunity
  • for a great picture. Look at your pictures after you are
  • done taking pictures. In that way, you don't miss a nice
  • photo opportunity.

get books

  • Books can help you take better pictures, because
  • they can give you excellent tips about taking pictures.
  • If you look at pictures that photographers took, you
  • will get more inspired and even develop your own ideas to
  • take a perfect picture.

ASK PERMISSION

  • When you are taking a picture of somebody,
  • ask for permission first. This is due to a safety
  • rule, so if someone doesn't want to be in a picture,
  • don't take a picture of them.

get inspired

  • Look through the Internet and books to
  • look for wonderful and beautiful
  • pictures. In that way, you get inspired to
  • take more pictures and try new ways of
  • taking good and satisfying pictures.

variation

  • Use different kinds of effects to make it
  • cool and even more eye-catching! A little
  • black and white or vintage and retro won't
  • hurt. Do it for fun or to spice up the picture.

lighting

  • Try using flash in the day. It will fill in
  • the shadows and instead of making the
  • picture brighter. Trust me, it works!

SHADE

  • Sometimes, shade can help you with your
  • pictures. When you use a little bit of shade,
  • the picture looks more dramatic.

That is the end!

Thank you for listening to my presentation!
