Meaning and Concept of Intercession

• A recommendation of great personality by which the errors are forgiven.
• It is the root of شفع which means pair.
• The intercessor's greatness on one hand and his ability of the other on other hand.
• The combination of intercessor and the one who is being recommended results in intercession
• On the day of judgement every sinner will not be forgiven, nobody can do intercession

INTERCESSION IN THE HOLY Quran

• The word intercession has come in Holy Quran thirty times which itself shows the importance of the subject.
• Some verses refute and some recommend it
• As the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) says,
• اِنَّ الْقُرْآنَ يَصْدُقُ بَعْضُه بَعْضًا.
• “Surely, some verse of Holy Quran attests the other.”

Two aspects of intercession in Quran

• Non-acceptable intercession
• Intercession of that person who have no relation with Him and also with that intercessor on the day of judgement.
• Acceptable intercession
• Only that intercession will be accepted by Him who is by His permission.

Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) said:

• اِنِّي لَاَشْفَعُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَاُشْفَعُ وَ يَشْفَعُ عَلِيٌّ فُيُشْفَعُ وَ يَشْفَعُ اَهْلُ بَيْتِيْ فَيُشْفَعُوْنَ.
• “Undoubtedly I will intercede on the day of judgement and it will be accepted, Hazrat Ali (a.s.) will also intercede and it will be also accepted, and my progeny will also intercede and it will be also accepted.”
• اِنَّ مِنْ اُمَّتِيْ مِنْ سَيَّدٍ اَحَلَّ اللهُ الْجَنَّةَ بِشَفَاعِتِه اَكْثَرُ مِنْ مُضِرٍّ.
• “There are such people in my Ummat, by whose intercession persons more than the Tribe of Mazhar (the biggest tribe of Arabia) will enter Heaven.”

Who Will Intercede

• On the day of judgement those who have faith with a pure heart and for those who .
• harbour no enmity towards the progeny of Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) will intercede
