Slide Notes

Bethany (Intro & this slide)
Presentation #2 should include:
• A very brief description of your project and what you accomplished. This should include the specific goals, purposes, and accomplishments as well as how you believe it has (or will) benefit the Lubbock community. This should be no longer than five to eight minutes of your presentation; recall that you have already told us in Presentation #1 what your project involved.
• Stories of what your team experienced and learned about organizational behavior during the project. In particular, you should highlight at least three surprises or things that were unexpected.
• A discussion of at least five things you learned about organizational behavior principles through examples of your project. Be specific in the way you apply the course concepts to your team project.
• Videos and/or photos of the agency and your project. Be aware, however, that some agencies restrict photography, so make sure to obtain permission prior to taking photos/videos.
The presentation should be no longer than 20 minutes, (with 10 minutes at the end for Q and A). All team members are required to speak during the presentation.
A stapled print copy of slides and handouts must be handed to Dr. Cogliser at the start of class. A 6-point deduction from final presentation grade will be made if print copy is not provided at the start of class (not the start of your team’s presentation). DO NOT ARRIVE LATE ON PRESENTATION DAYS.

5 ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR LESSONS LEARNED
1. "What Great Managers Do" (Strengths)
2. Five Dysfunctions (Control, Input, Trust Building)
3. Marshmallow (Plan ahead)
4. Survival Activity
5. Creative Realism v. Idealism (Example: Rhyme)

We picked a project that everyone was truly tied to. There was passion and intrinsic motivation and we were doing it for the kids!!!

It was the night before our huge service event, Career Quest.
My group travelled to my apartment at five in the evening hoping to do our absolute best.
It was barely fifteen minutes into our meeting that miscommunications occurred about the exact tasks that we needed to complete.
The one thing we were all driven towards was to make sure the kids at our event would think the whole event was neat.
I got a little carried away with all that we could accomplish in just the night before the event.

Some team members had to remind me of our limited resources and all that we had already spent. After seven hours of working hard the night before this quest, we realized that our creativity was stifled and we didn’t go about this with our best. What we learned was that conflict is essential to innovation, only then can we produce an event that will hopefully become a sensation. What we also learned was that we are all different and must account for our different thoughts, we had so many creative ideas, but we kept tying creative knots.

"It was great to show the children that they have options for when they grow up. I was so honored and excited to be a role model. I have never done anything like this - it was cool!"-Ray (U.S. Marshal, Professional)

"I was honored to attend & excited to tell about my profession. It was very well organized & a great success. I just hope I was able to influence the kids" -Susan (Nurse, Professional)
