employer may only hire workers in the union (more common in trades)

Temporary work stoppage by employees, designed to force an employer to meet union's contractual demands. Only happens if majority of workers approve this action and if certain conditions are met (old CBA expires, conciliation/mediation used)

lockout

employer shuts down work place to force workers to accept contract
