BORN: JUNE 27,1806 PARENTS: AUGUSTUS DE MORGAN, ELIZABETH DODSON CHILDREN: WILLIAM AND MARY DE MORGAN
BORN IN INDIA, RAISED IN ENGLAND. BECAME BLIND IN ONE EYE AT 1 MONTH OLD. FATHER DIED AT 10.
HIS EARLY EDUCATION CONSISTED OF PRIVATE SCHOOLS, AND AT 16 HE ENTERED THE TRINITY COLLGE AT CAMBRIDGE.
IN 1827 HE GRADUATED COLLEGE, AND 1 YEAR LATER HE WAS AWARDED THE POSITION OF FIRST PROFESSOR OF MATHEMATICS AT UNIVERSITY COLLEGE IN LONDON.
DE MORGAN PREPARED AN ALMANAC OF ALL THE FULL MOONS FROM 2000 BCE TO 2000 AD
HE FOUNDED THE LONDON MATHEMATICAL SOCIETY AND WAS ITS FIRST PRESIDENT
HE WROTE MANY BOOKS AND ARTICLES ON BOTH MATHEMATICS AND LOGIC, AS WELL AS A WIDE VARIETY OF OTHER SUBJECTS.
ASSEMBLED A LARGE PERSONAL LIBRARY OF OVER 3000 BOOKS, A CONSIDERABLE FEAT, FOR HE WAS NEVER WEALTHY.
