THE FIRST TIME

  • The first "candies" were just sugar coated
  • Fruits, and nuts, and they were mainly
  • Used for digestive problems.

FINALLY SOMETHING THATS ACTUALLY EDIBLE

  • Then, England decided to try something
  • New, and they made boiled sugar plums.
  • But the American colonies wanted to eat
  • Something that tasted good for once, so
  • They created sweets like maple syrup and marzipan

CARAMELSSSS

  • Caramels were greeted to the world in
  • The early eighteenth century, and lollipops
  • We're greeted in the 1780's

CHOCOLATE!!!

  • Hard candies with lemon and mint flavors
  • Were popular in the early 19th century.
  • But the discovery of milk chocolate in Switzerland
  • (1875) is what made the chocolate bar so popular in
  • America.

THE END.

  • So in short, candy throughout the years Has changed quite a bit
  • and there are still Many small details that I haven't mentioned
  • but One of the most significant points of candy history
  • was when the 1851 great exhibition in London decided to display
  • Some "French-styled" candies.
