CALL TO VOCATION

• Began to serve the lord at a young age.
• She performed severe penances and fasted three times a week.
• When she was admired for her beauty, she cut off her hair and smeared pepper on her face
• She spent many hours contemplating the blessed sacrament,which she received daily.
• She took a vow of virginity, which was opposed by her parents.

WHAT SHE EXEMPLIFIED

• St.Rose worked hard to support her poor parents and humbly obeyed them.
• Rose had many temptations from the devil and suffered feelings of loneliness and sadness.
• She refused to marry and stayed true to her vow of virginity.
• Suffered from many illnesses.
• "Lord increase my sufferings,and with them increase your love in my heart."

• St.Rose of Lima helped the poor,including her own parents.
• She cared and helped those in need.
• She shows great devotion to God.
• Opened her home to the sick and poor.

• Born April 20, 1568 and died on August 31, 1671.
• Patron saint of Peru,Central and South America, and the Philippines.
• Canonized on April 2, 1671.
