Was built in honor of Poseidon.(dedicated to him)

The idea of using columns was similar. The way they used the buildings was different. The temple of Poseidon was used to honor Poseidon while the cathedral is used for a meeting place for people.

The purpose of monumental architecture is to show how people built these buildings.
