SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT FROM AGES 4-6

FOUR YEARS OLD

  • Form friendship with their playmates
  • Childen begin to share and learn how to take turns
  • Children this age frequently seek approval by parents
  • Often bossy inconsiderate and fighting is common

FIVE YEARS OLD

  • More out going and talkitive than they were at age four
  • Play best in groups of 5-6 children
  • Children start developing respect for their belonings and others
  • Children usually start school at this age
  • Develop social skills

SIX YEARS OLD

  • Social relations are often characterizednby friction,aggresion, and stubborness
  • They frequently disaggree with peers and want to do things their way
  • Often dont want to share toys with peers
  • Likely to become jealous of others children toys.
  • Friendships are usually ofnthe same sex

FAMILY RELATIONSHIP

  • During infants years, children become attached to their parents
  • They look to feel important in the family
  • Parents approval is very important to the child
  • Usually if parents are divorced, the child will experience more stress
