  • Born in Moscow, 1672
  • Died in 1725 in st. Petersburg
  • He had 14 kids (3 survived to adulthood)
  • Started school at 7 (3 year education)

More about Peter
Peters parents were Alexis of Russia and Natalya Naryshkina. He had two wives in his lifetime and they were. Catherine I of Russia (1712-25), and Eudoxia Lopukhina (1689-98). Peter was given a private tutoring. Peter tortured one of his sons to death. He had 3 siblings. He was not a religious liberal.

Opinions
we think that Peter was a absolute monarch because he has complete control over Russia during his time of being the czar and tried to use reforms to help his country.

Russian culture was very into the arts, literature, philosophy, and the classical music. They had a big tradition in technology. Traditional Russian foods are the Russian cuisine, beef stroganov, and dressed herring. A traditional Russian dance is the Russian folk dance it was a very important part of the Russian culture.

GOALS
Peter wanted to modernize and westernize Russia and turn it into a European power. He wanted to achieve this by traveling widely in Western Europe so he could gain knowledge about modern things. Attacking neighboring states so he could increase territory under his rule. Attracting Western experts to Russia to help with he modernization process. And ruthlessly crushing all internal positions. He was successful in achieving his goals.

Peter did not centralize power within his nation he was more interested with the enlightenment of France . He tried to bring about reforms.
