PRESENTATION OUTLINE

CHild soldiers in Africa

By: Carolyn Wilde and Jon Dietz

There are over 250,000 child soldiers in the world today

Africa has the largest number of child soldiers

in the Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Somalia, and Sudan

40% of them are girls involved in sex trafficking

The Lord resistance army abducts them from their homes

and brainwashes them

Many are introduced to drugs and addictions

and they become permanently desensitized to violence

Villages are forced to provide a certain number of children as soldiers each year in exchange for protection against attacks

Children are then forced to kill family members

thus breaking the bonds with their community and never allowing them to go back home

Not many people know about this, and that is what needs to be changed

Children should not be forced to live as soldiers against their will

Childhoods and families are constantly torn apart and there is nothing that they can do to stop it from happening

THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE

WE MUST STOP THIS

We are the bystanders... but we can become the RESCUERS

By RECOGNIZING and INTERFERYING

and spreading this information around to others,

WE can help save the lives of these innocent children in Africa
