  • Effected trade by creating extensive networks throughout the region
  • Made trade a common activity
  • Easier and faster
  • Traded between diverse cultures and societies
  • Arid lands

TURKISH MILITARY EXPASION

  • Many tribes
  • Turkish people began to migrate to settled cities
  • Many Turks left after empire turned Islam
  • Fierce military got involved and conquered

GENGHIS KHAN

  • He trained his powerful army to conquer many regions
  • Tolerated most religions and treated women fairly
  • Introduced the fastest/safest routes for trade and communication
  • Expanded his empire when land was rapidily conquered

POLITICS (MONGOLS)

  • They had kings or 'khans'
  • Khans rarely ruled directly, but mainly through leaders
  • Military was a strong force in the empire
