WHY RECYCLE PAPER?

  • We do not recycle paper at home
  • If you recycle paper, frees up lots of room in trash can
  • Save money and energy by recycling.

  • No place to recycle bottles at school.
  • We do not recycle bottles at home.
  • 1 bottle recycled can save enough energy.
  • to power one 60 watt lightbulb for 3 hours.

  • Reduces pollution

  • Recycling factories are costly
  • Costly to pay workers in factory

BOTTLE PATHWAY

  • Sort each kind of bottle once it gets to factory
  • Specific plastic are bundled together into bale and wrapped
  • Bales are then sold to several different recycling companies
  • Shred bales into tiny flakes
  • Wash and dry the plastic flakes

BOTTLE PATHWAY

  • Melt all plastic down in extruder
  • Squishes molten plastic into long strands
  • Chop up plastic strands into pellets
  • Pellets are made into numerous different products

PAPER PATHWAY

  • Sorted into grades of paper
  • Paper is washed in soapy water to get rid of
  • plastic film, glue, ink, and staples.
  • Washed paper is in container called slurry
  • Slurry is laid out to dry

PAPER PATHWAY

  • Once dry, rolled up like paper towels
  • Then cut into sheets of paper to be sold
