Assessment

• includes formal and informal methods
• evaluates students' development academically and behaviorally
• purpose is to show students' strengths and weaknesses
• gives insight to the students' disability's adverse effects
• provides a foundation for applicable instructional goals

Special educators work as a part of a multidisciplinary team to discover if there is a disability a student is struggling with.

Components of the assessment process:

• Collection- the collection of student data
• Analysis- recognizing patterns of a student's history
• Evaluation-
• Determination-
• Recommendation-
