PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Joshua- A Prophet who led his nation

By: Solomon A. Hutchins

What Conflicts were faced???

The conflicts I, Joshua have faced In my life have been both personal lessons and my greatest source of agony. From the Israelites numerous attempts to kill me (Rashi on Joshua 1:2) to fitting into the large shoes of Moses. I know one thing for sure, it isn't easy.

What have you learned about yourself?

I have learned that what is expected of me is more than a burden. I may be able to be like Moses, be strong and courageous like G-d wanted (Joshua 1:6:1), but it isn't going to be easy. I have also learned to trust myself and do right in the ways of G-d (not including the halachot I forgot). But most importantly, I am Joshua rightful prophet of G-d. This is something no one can take away from me.

What have you learned about being a leader?

I have learned that being a leader is much more than Moses made it out to be. G-d is going to be with me at all times so a true leader does not cower to the desires of others. I have to find the strength and courage from within to led those people in a new land.

Understanding of Chazak V' Emetz?

Through the conflicts I have faced, I have reached an understanding of Chazak V' Emetz (Joshua 1:7). Ever since I have become leader all G-d has desired of me is to step up and be the courageous and strong leader that I was always destined to be. I realize now that this was not just for G-d, but for me to further understand myself. If I show strength and courage then maybe the Israelites will follow me in our new land.

What can the Israelites learn about courage??

As leader I hope that the Israelites will follow me, but filling the Israelites with courage is a lot harder than you think. Though they lack the ability to learn courage they should learn from me that we are stronger than with think and as long as we follow the word of G-d we will prevail. It is our faith in the All Mighty that will be our success in the new land. G-d has shown the way thus far and with courage and strength will continue to do so.
