WHY INTERCHANGEABLE PARTS ARE IMPORTANT

  • Interchangeable parts made production more easier because instead of creating an entirely new machine you simply had to switch out a small area.
  • Before this technology objects were produced by skilled craftsmen.
  • Interchangeable parts were simple and inexpensive because the damaged piece could be easily replaced
  • Interchangeable parts also allowed production to have a lower cost.

  • With the interchangeable parts people loss their jobs to machines that did their jobs faster.
  • But when the machines brake they need someone to fix the machine.

  • Also made the repairs easy.
  • And it allowed the users of lower-paid of less-skilled workers.

  • If the cotton gin did not interchangeable parts cotton would not have been distributive as fast because farmers would have to buy a new one when theirs broke.
