Saint Paul compares the intimate relationship between a husband and wife to the intimate relationship of Christ and the Church
"Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ loved the church and handed himself over for her to sanctify her."
The unity of Christ, the bridegroom, and the church , his bride, reveals to us something of the intimate relationship God intends for husband and wife
Christ and the church can be described as two becoming flesh, the same as husbands and wives
