This made Bakke bring a case all the way to the Supreme Court in 77-78 due to violation of the Fourteenth amendment. It was a split vote, 5 for Bakke, 4 against.
1980: due to the University not helping Bakke with admissions, he sued and received $183,000. 1996: Californians banned use of race as a factor in Admissions, allowing for all races to get access to going to university.
Bakke's court case created a stepping stone towards the end of segregation in schools. Today all majorities and minorities have the opportunity of getting educated equally.
