HOW TO WRITE AN ESSAY

THE THREE PARTS OF AN ESSAY ARE:

• The introduction
• The body
• The conclusion

INTRODUCTION

• Catch the reader's attention by asking a question or a quote
• Introduce the topic
• Introduce your main idea also called the thesis
• Briefly describe the points that will be discussed in the essay

BODY PARAGRAPHS

• You should have at least 3 body paragraphs
• Provide evidence to support your thesis
• Each supporting point needs its own paragraph
• Each paragraph should relate back to the thesis.

CONCLUSION

• Review the main points
• Remind the readers of the focus of the essay
• Avoid introducing new ideas
