BERLIN COFERENCE

• Took place during 1884-5
• It divided Africa
• Banned slave trade
• Was called Africa's undoing

EUROPEAN IMPERIALISM

• The Europeans traded but set up few colonies
• Even less were on the coast
• They traded manufactured goods for gold etc.
• Europeans started to explore Africa's interior

IMPERIALISTIC METHODS

• Signing treaties
• Used African collaborators and opportunists
• Used explorers to explore what they annexed
• They also used the divide and rule method

END OF COLNIZATION

• Followed WWII
• Africans agitated for independence
• Colonial powers withdrew their administrators
• The soviets and china supported the decolonization

LASTING EFFECTS

• Worst effect was racism
• Poverty
• Unequal distribution of wealth
• Whites got way more money
