HOW IT WORKS

• pulley is a wheel with a grooves around it.
• rope, cable, or belt sits In the groves.
• If you pull on the rope it cause the other side to move

HOW CAN IT HELP

• Pulleys can help lift things
• When you pull on the rope it works on the resitance
• It can keeps things in the air

HOW SINGLE PULLEYS WORK

• A single pully must be fastened to something
• They must be placed on a stationary object
• They can also be hooked to a load

HOW DOES IT WORK

• Force it transmitted through the tension on the rope
• This pulley does not reduce effort
• But it is good for changing direction of the effort

SINGLE MOVEABLE PULLEYS?

• If a pulley is moveable then is is called a moveable pulley
• One end of the rope is attached to a ridged location
• The effort pulls on the free end

PULLEY GANGS

• Assembling multiple pulleys are pully gangs
• These can combine their mechanical advantages
• If you have more than one rope it only uses one rope
