Muhammad

• Muhammad was the founder of Islam
• Also known as the Final Prophet
• Native of Mecca on the west coast of Arabia.

• He perched a religion to the one and only God, "Allah"
• Began receiving revelations from "Allah" in 610

• Medina- "City of Prophet"
• Islam dates its beginnings in 622, know as the Hijra
• Hijra- emegration

• Later in 630, Muhammad returned to Mecca with 10,000 soldiers
• He took control of city the city and destroyed all idols
• Muhammad preserved the islamic world symbolic center
• Symbolic center- small cubical building that housed all the idols 
• called the Kaaba (kaaba- arabic for cube)
