PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Saturn is 2nd largest planet in our solar system. It is a gas giant, and is an outer planet. It is 15 billion miles away from the sun, and it is found between Jupiter and Uranus.
The period of revolution on Saturn is about 29 years, and a day on saturn is about 10.2 hours. It has an eccentricity of 0.056, and a diameter of 72,367 miles.
Saturn has a surface temperature of -288 degrees Farenheit. The surface gravity is 8.6 mi2. It has a known 53 satellites.
Saturn's interior is composed of iron, nickel, and rock surrounded by metallic hydrogen, liquid hydrogen, and liquid helium. Saturn's atmosphere is made of helium, hydrogen, methan, and ammonia.
There are 3 different layers of clouds in Saturn's atmosphere. The 1st layer is made of ammonia, the 2nd ammonium hydro sulfide clouds, and the 3rd are just ordinary water clouds.
Saturn's rings aren't actually solid bands that encircle the planet. They are made of dust rock and ice accumulated from passing comets. Some of the matter in the ring is as small as a grain of sand, and some as large as buildings.
There are a lot of things that are unique about saturn. Saturn's rings are so large they can be seen from earth with a small teloscope. Saturn could float in water, since it's all gas. Saturn is the 5th brightest object in our solar system. Saturn's wind can be up to 1500 kilometers per hour
FUN FACTS
- Saturn is the least dense of all planets
- In about 100,000,000 years Saturn's rings will be gone, since most rings have dropped into space
- Saturn cannot support life, but some of its moons might have conditions that support life
- Saturn's volume is 755 times greater than the earth
