Meningitis is a serious inflammation of the meninges, the thin, membranous covering of the brain and the spinal cord.

CAUSES

  • Viral infection
  • Fungus infection
  • People with a weak immune system easily get this
  • bacteria infects the bloodstream
  • We all have meningitis bacteria already

SIGNS/SYMPTOMS

  • Fever/vomiting
  • Severe headache & confusion
  • Rashes
  • Dislike of bright lights (photophobia)
  • Feeling very tired

SIGNS/SYMPTOMS

  • Joint pain
  • Confusion
  • Seizure
  • Hyperventilating
  • Shivering

TREATMENT

  • Medicines (antibiotics)
  • Oxygen Therapy
  • Supportive Care

PREVENTION

  • Wash hands
  • Practice good hygiene
  • Stay healthy to boost immune system
  • Cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing

TRANSMISSION

  • Exchange (kissing or saliva)
  • Eating contaminated food
