DICTIONARY DEFINITION OF CULTURE:
The quality in a person or society that arises from a concern for what is regarded as excellent in arts, letters, manners, scholarly pursuits, etc.

MY DEFINITION OF CULTURE:
The characteristics that make a certain group of people different from others.

MAKEUP OF A CULTURE:
The types of clothes, languages, writing, arts, music, food, and etc. the culture pursues.

CONCERNS/CONFLICTS BETWEEN CULTURES:
-religion
-power
-land
-history

Examples:
-Protistant/Catholic Crusades
-Rwandan Genocide (Hutus killed the Tutsis)
-Armenian Genocide (led by Turkey)

-The French are notorious for extramarital relations. Most children are born without married parents

LITERATURE OF A CULTURE

INFLUENCES OF A WRITER:
Often, writers are inspired by heir surroundings. Writers find things that inspire them in the world and portray them through scripture. These inspirations can be things like nature, or even an even that impacted their lives.

HOW LITERATURE IS LIKE/UNLIKE LIFE:
It all depends on the piece of literature! Literature is often inspired by real life, so they portray real life. However, not only can writers bend the truth to make life seem more interesting, but they cab also use their imaginations to write things that are totally out of the ordinary.

HOW LITERATURE REVEALS VALUES OF A CULTURE:
Literate portrays a certain culture by revealing an authors perspective on something. Once you find out the cultures that the author is from, you can have a better idea of the beliefs of his culture.

HOW OUR UNDERSTANDING OF CULTURE AND SOCIETY IS CONSTRUCTED THROUGH LITERATURE:
Often, literature shows an authors perspective of a certain current event, so this better brings together the faith and morals of a culture by taking a look inside the mind of someone from that culture

CULTURAL ACCEPTANCE

CULTURAL ACCEPTANCE:
There are tons of ways to promote cultural acceptance! Getting together with people who support your beliefs is a good start. Movies, advertisements, and social media are great ways to spread the word.

AFFIRMING CULTURAL ACCEPTANCE:
Genocides are often sparked by cultural acceptance, so accepting a culture can save lives.

Cultural acceptance is what keeps the world together. People die due to the cruel un-acceptance of others, so it is vital to accept cultures.
