PRESENTATION OUTLINE
5 elements of green design
Windows receive a large amount of energy from the sun. Most of this is wasted on a single area, and direct sunlight causes harmful glare on desks and computer monitors.Light shelves bounce visible light up towards the ceiling, which reflect it down deeper into the interior of a room.
Urban Green Furniture is a simple and modern furniture, which is hand-crafted in Brooklyn, NY. They use FSC (Forest Stewardship Council)-certified wood and safe and allergen-free finishes, and all of their pieces are handcrafted in their Brooklyn shop.
The light is essentially an old-school microphone that has been remixed as a light fixture for your household or office space. The microphone light can be used as a suspended pendent lamp, or can even be paired with tall microphone stand to use the device as a floor lamp.
A first glance at this bathroom makes it seem so modern that it doesn't come across immediately as "green". However, all of the materials that are used in the design here (steel, glass, slate, copper, and wood) are sustainable materials which are easy on the earth. These natural materials create an earth-friendly mood in the space without taking away from the modern appeal of the design.
Geothermal systems are able to tap into this free energy with an earth loop.
4 new technologies for a home
Solar energy applications for architecture and urban planning are related mostly to lighting. Today, there are solar lights that collect energy throughout the day and then light up when the sun starts to set.
There are also solar-powered switchable windows that serve as good alternatives to curtains and blinds.
Solar powered water pumping is one of the most practical applications of solar energy due to its simplicity.
Solar water distillers have Allowed people to generate potable water out of brackish or saline supply. There are also solar water disinfection systems that have been particularly helpful in developing countries.
