Creation vs. Evolution project for biology

PRESENTATION OUTLINE

CREATION VS. EVOLUTION

BY: MEGAN PARRIS

The age of the earth according to Creation is 6,000 years. This is guessed by going by the begots in the Bible and the huge family tree
Evolution: 4.5 billion years old. Carbon dating helped scientists to guess this to be the true

The sun and stars were formed according to Creation by God creating them on the 4th Day. God spoke it into existence
Evolution: combining of gases, and the combining of dust and particles to form the planets

Planets were formed according to Creation on the 2nd day of creation. God spoke it into existence.
Evolution: gases being released and meteorites and rocks crashing into each other

Life was created according to creation on the 6th day of creation. God made all living things. Made women of the bone of a man
Evolution- Endosymbiosis: cell ate cell. Both survived and one began replicating inside of the other and then split to make different organisms

Organisms evolved or were created according to creation at the beginning of creation and have changed somewhat over time but not the species
Evolution: organisms developed the ability to reproduce sexually which created diversity so organisms were able to change

The flood according to Creation was where water rained down 40 days and nights and covered the entire earth in water
Evolution: a giant meteor struck the earth's oceans and shot the ocean's water over the lands. This water covered the lands for a time but then receded.

Animals on the Ark
Creation: God told Noah to take two of every animal to save the species for when the flood came. Less variation of species then so there weren't as many animals on there as there are animals today
Evolution: says it never happened. Does not support it. Says animals migrated across the lands and animals in the sea. Was not because of Noah's Ark

Fossil record
Creation: says that fully formed organisms were made and disappeared if they went extinct. The Flood helps explain why fish bones and other marine life were found on mountain tops.
Evolution: says that organisms gradually changed over time and into different species.

Vestigial Organ
Creation: says that humans did not evolve. We were all created in God's image. Every part of our bodies has its own function
Evolution: that some organs in our bodies are no longer needed but were needed many years ago when the human race was young. Humans have evolved so that they no longer need certain organs

Homologous Organs
Creation: we are all made by a common plan. God found something that worked and used it.
Bone structure may be similar but its functions will be somewhat
different in a human than in a dog. Although he is the designer of all things
Evolution: we all came from a common ancestor so we have similar organs and bone structure and also DNA. So everything functions in a similar way. Believes that common structure means a shared parentage

Analogous Organs
Creation: that animals may have a the same organ but it functions differently for the species. Evolution didn't play in this. God created each organ uniquely.
Evolution: things changed over time to have different functions for different species. Animals developed wings because they needed it. As a mutation

Geography
Creation: God made the land and oceans. He made the earth, the mountains, and the different terrain it has.
Evolution: all land was connected together at one time but that the lands split and moved through the ocean. This was called Pangea when the land was all connected. The climate was very warm during this time. The dinosaurs died allowing for the animals to move to different areas across the earth. In the Mesozoic time many shallow oceans covered North America.

Embryology
Creation: we are all created by God and He plans who we are to be. Humans are special and unique to any other of God's creations. He specially makes each creature and not just humans. All are made for a purpose
Evolution: we all have a common ancestor since we are all similar at conception and in early development. Some evolutionists argue there is no God since there are many problems that can happen in development before birth to damage the organism or person. Because of this they say there isn't a God because He wouldn't mess up and the child or creature would be perfect.
