  • 1745 thomas Middleton died in his willl
  • Middleton stipulated the Rock was to be
  • sold after his death to pay for his debts

  • 1832 captain peter gail lard made his will
  • At this one of his son (samuel) had died
  • So plantation was to go to his daughter Elizabeth

  • 19 part of land that was not flooded
  • Was operated as rocks pond campground

  • There was 6 owners
  • They all was white and in there old ages

  • Well the most grown crops was
  • Santee long cotton and they grow alot if that

CAN YALL STILL GO AND SEE IT NOW

  • Nobody can see or tour the plantation today
  • Why is because it burned down and they
  • Never rebuild it

LIFE OF A PLANATAION

  • For slave they was really ruff and they
  • Went day with out eating and worked all day
  • Sometimes they ain't get sleep and they had to keep
  • Working and went not working they got beat or killed
  • It depend on the master and how your work skills were

  • Number of acres – 500 in 1732; 400 in 1745

HOW THEY WHERE SUCCESSFUL WITH THE PLANTATION

  • 1799 Captain Peter Gaillard produced a very successful cotton crop
  • He averaged $340.00 per hand for his Santee long cotton
  • hybrid between Upland cotton and Sea Island cotton)
