SHINTO FOUNDING

  • Shinto has no actual founder.
  • It started in Japan around 500 BCE.
  • Shinto religion started due to their strong beliefs.
  • Many people started believing in "the way of kami."

SHINTO BELIEFS

  • Shinto beliefs refer to the way of kami.
  • The way of kami is the nature that the Shintos worshipped.
  • The kami included mountains, trees, rivers, and animals.
  • "The kami" got it's name from the beliefs of nature gods.
  • Nature was one of the Shintos main priorties.

SHINTO GODS/GODDESSES

  • The Shinto's worshipped the gods of nature.
  • The Kami was the most common god in Shinto religion.
  • Shinto believed that "Kami the nature god" provided their every need.
  • They believed that if somone from their culture died, their spirit would live in a tree or river.
  • "The kami was the only god they believed was real.

MAJOR SHINTO HOLIDAY

  • The major holiday the shintos celebrate is matsuri.
  • Matsuri is a time where the Shinto would celebrate and thank the descending gods.
  • Theey believed at this time, that the gods would come down to earth and bless them.
  • After they have been blessed they believe they have eternal life, and celebrate with a feast.
  • Matsuri is important because it honors the eternal life gods of nature.

SHINTO FOLLOWING

  • There are about 3,000,000 followers of the Shino religion.
  • The beleifs have got more people interested in the Shinto cuture.
  • The nature gods have many people believing in many different gods.
  • There have never been many followers in Shinto. 3,000,000 is the most ever.

SHINTO SACRED TEXT

  • The scared text Shintos relied on is the Kojiki.
  • The Kojiki is a Japenese teachings book from the 8th century.
  • The Shintos learned "the way of kami" from the Kojiki.
  • It was created by early Japenese people to spread the word about the teachings.
  • The Kojiki was the most important text in Shinto history.
