THE GREAT SPHINX

  • The most famous of all the mystery-laden monuments of Old Egypt.
  • Form of a semi-recumbent lion with the head of a man
  • Purpose is veiled in impenetrable mystery of unknown date
  • Represents of a king that links between mankind and the gods
  • Located west bank of the Nile in Giza, Egypt during the 2558- 2532 BC

MALKATA PALACES

  • Residences of the Pharaohs and their Entourage workshipping god
  • Consisted of a complex of buildings designed to house the headquarters
  • Built in the 14th century BC located in the south of Medinet Habu.
  • One purpose was to accommodate the needs of the pharaoh
  • Second was to meet the requirements of administration

The most memorable lasting monumental architecture is Karnak built during1500-1350 BC. It's located near Luxor, south of Cairo, Egypt. The columns were built and decorated by wood or bundled reed. Has 3 main sacred areas that honor 3 gods: Theben triad of Amun, Mut and Khonsu. The important religious building, largest ever made, and place for pilgrimage which mostly now tourists.

The Egyptians were the first builders ever known. They taught humanity how to design and erect buildings.Egyptian words were used to describe architectural drawings, foundations and construction works well as the purpose of religious building.

In North Eastern Africa was the Egyptians location. The Egyptians were the first early civilization. Egypt wrote language, religion, ruling class, had unique styles. Romans Empire were located in Europe. Roman Empire people had flair for engineering. The Egyptians were the greatest architects of ancient world. While the Roman were genius for copying and adapting Greek styles. Some similarities for Egypt and Rome were that they were both interested in Greeks architecture. Also they were both diverse range of art works.
