The Qin Dynasty was founded by a man named Shi Huangdi in 221 BCE. Shi Huangdi was best known for being the first emperor of China. He expanded China's borders and continued building The Great Wall of China. When he died, he was buried in a tomb with hundreds of Terra Cotta soldiers. They were put there so no one would steal the emperor's body. Now, Shi Huandi's tomb is a major tourist attraction in China.
The Han Dynasty was founded in 206 BCE by Emperor Liu Bang. The Han achieved a central bureaucracy and used The Civil Service System to picked out their officials. The Han dynasty was considered a golden age for China. During the golden age, China invented paper, had a strong government, and they created new farming equipment.
The Tang Dynasty was founded in 618 CE by Li Yuan. The Tang Dynasty is known for economic growth and new technologies for China. They made several developments in woodblock printing, timekeeping, mechanical engineering, medicine, structural engineering, cartography, and alchemy.
The Song Dynasty fas founded in 960 CE by a man named Taizu. Like the Tang, the Song made many technological developments and increased economic growth. They were the first dynasty to use paper money for banking and the first government to have a permanent standing navy. Lastly, the Song were able to develop gunpowder.
The Ming dynasty was founded in 1368 CE by Emperor Hungwu. During his reign, he opened China up to many foreign influences like Europe. At the end of the dynasty, Wei Zaode closed China off from the world.
The Qing dynasty was founded by Manchurians from the north in 1644 CE. During the Manchurian rule, they attempted to seal off China from foreign influences. This lasted until 1911 when they fell and became known as the last Chinese dynasty.
