Online Security Definition

Online security is a tree branch of computer security specifically related to the Internet, often involving browser security but also network security on a more general level as it applies to other applications or operating systems on a whole.

What is Internet Fraud?

A crime in which the perpetrator develops a scheme using one or more elements of the Internet to deprive a person of property or any interest, estate, or right by a false representation of a matter of fact, whether by providing misleading information or by concealment of information.

Credit/ Debit Card Fraud

Credit card (or debit card) fraud is a form of identity theft that involves an unauthorized taking of another’s credit card information for the purpose of charging purchases to the account or removing funds from it.

  • Using lost or stolen credit cards
  • Stealing from your mailbox
  • Looking at personnel records

  • Sending unsolicited email

Identity Fraud

Identity fraud can be described as the use of that stolen identity in criminal activity to obtain goods or services by deception.

  • Use strong and secure passwords
  • Use different passwords on different sites

Online Predator- someone who uses the Internet to develop inappropriate relationships with kids or teens

Stereotype- A popular belief about a group of people, based on assumptions that are often false

Manipulate- Trying to influence somebody to do something they might not otherwise do, for ones own benefit
