BIRTHDATE & LOCATION

  • Born March 28th 1483, died April 6 1520.
  • His early years were in Umbria, 4 years in Florence, and 12 years in Rome.

MAJOR ACHIEVMENTS

  • Raphael was an Italian painter and architect.
  • Top artwork was Madonna,school of Athens, and the unfinished transfiguration
  • He died before completing his last work at age 35.
  • The School of Athens is famous because of the detail and depth to this
  • huge painting and the color is great for its time.

MAJOR EVENTS

  • He designed church of Sant' Eligio Orefici.
  • Also worked on basilia of St.Peters.
  • Both these events are very important for the renaissance,
  • With much more modern churches.

WHY

  • All these examples show that he believed In humanism.
  • Living life and not just waiting to die, he made his own life good.
  • He made his own legacy threw his paintings that could go on forever.
  • Trying to live life to the fullest is humanism I believe he did that.

BELIEFS

  • Even though he was atheist he made some religious art.
  • He was one of the first artist to make a realistic religious painting.
  • He expressed his atheism by making the most realistic looking Virgin Mary painting.
  • He believed in hard work and he showed that in works like the School
  • of Athens which took over a year to finish.

MODERNESS

  • Some people believe the Renaissance are still going today and he helped start them.
  • His art and achievements are still viewed and loved by some people today.
  • Some of his art has been sold for millions in auctions.
  • What makes his art modern is people use his techniques from paintings like
  • the School of Athens in new paintings.
