2.
Leaders
35 Separatists lead the group of people on
the Mayflower ship. They did not agree with
the church in England, so the left the country
to create their own way of following God.
3.
Economic Structure
The economy in this area developed in the late
1600s. They made profit from tobacco. The biggest
source of income was from the fur trade.
4.
Social Structure
Life in Plymouth revolved around family and religion.
Almost all grown males in the colony could have
citizenship. The most powerful person in each colony
was the govenor.
5.
Physical Environment
The first winter the passengers on the Mayflower
experienced was a rough one, 45 out of the 102
passengers died that winter. The English soon
worked with the Native Americans and got the tools
to survive a winter in North America.
6.
Struggles
The sources of income were from farming and fishing,
which were unreliable ways of getting money in that time
due to the fact that there can be bad fishing seasons and
bad farming seasons.
7.
Interactions
After the first rough winter for the colonists, they created
a peace treaty with chief Massasoit of the Wampanoag
tribe. This helped the pilgrims alive and functioning throughout
the years.
8.
Slavery
Some of the families had black slaves, and a lot of
families had indentured servants. There weren't enough
slaves in the colony for politicians to enforce any laws
about them.
