KENNEL COUGH

CAUSES

  • Treated less than needed
  • Directly from dog to dog
  • Through germs on contaminated objects
  • combination of the canine parainfluenza virus
  • and the bacteria Bordetella bronchiseptica

SYMPTOMS

  • Persistent dry cough
  • Some dogs develop a fever and nasal discharge
  • Not much changes

PREVENTION

  • Best way is to prevent exposure
  • Vaccinations are also available

TREATMENT

  • Should be isolated from other dogs
  • signs of kennel cough usually decrease or disappear after three weeks
  • Most dogs will recover without treatment
  • Go to vet if it doesn't recover by six weeks
  • It may last longer in older dogs and dogs with medical conditions

WHAT IS KENNEL COUGH

  • an upper respiratory infection affecting dogs
  • It is highly contagious
