THE CLARINET WAS MADE IN 1690.

What were some other names for your instrument?

Some other names for the clarinet are the licorice stick and the licorice whip.

How does it work?

The clarinet worked when you blow air through the mouthpiece causing it to vibrate. The vibration makes a sound. To play the notes, the clarinetist covers various combinations of tone holes with fingers or keys. Each note requires a different length of tubing before it escapes out of the uncovered holes and the bell.

The genres of music that is most important to the clarinet is classical, military band, and marching band.
