7 tips to help a beginner improve their meditation practice

PRACTICING MEDITATION

FOR BEGINNERS

GOOD MEDITATION POSTURE IS IMPORTANT

Good meditation posture is important.

Sit with your legs crossed or on a meditation pillow or cushion.

Sit comfortably with your back straight.

Sit cross-legged or on a meditation chair or cushion

GENTLY CLOSE YOUR EYES

Keep your eyes closed throughout the session

BREATHE SLOWLY & DEEPLY

Inhale with your nose and exhale through your mouth

COUNT YOUR BREATHS

Count from 1 to 10 and then start counting again from 1

PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR BODY

Once your mind starts to quiet, focus on your body

Pay attention to each part from your toes to your head

GENTLY COME OUT OF THE MEDITATION SESSION

Have a timer set to gently signal the end of the session

That way you wont be focused on when to end the meditation session

MEDITATE DAILY

Best if done twice daily

Start for 5 minutes and gradually increase to 30 minutes overtime
