THE COLD WAR

THE BEGINNING

• The Cold War grew out of the tensions between Russia and the USA.
• Basically the both didn't like eachother and their customs.
• Russia attacked the USA out of fear that the USA might attack them
• Normal wars were fought with guns and fire power
• The cold war was fought with "cold" political strategic moves

CAPITALISM VS COMMUNISM

• Capitalists can own their own property
• Communist lands are owned by the government
• Basically capitalism = freedom / communism = government control

USA FOREIGN POLICY

• The USA wanted to keep communist influence from crossing their borders
• The Soviet Union responded by creating nuclear weapons

KITCHEN DEBATE

• Took when the American National exhibition opened in Moscow
• Nixon and Khrushchev had a heated debate about capitalism and communism
• It took place in the middle of a model kitchen
