HERDING

  • It was common to herd animals
  • Herder was constantly moving to find food and water for the sheeps
  • People would use their wool and hides for clothes and to make tents
  • They would eat the sheep meat and drink the milk

SHEPHERDS

  • Shepherds always lived near a village
  • Would bring their flocks to a nearby pasture to have a chance to be hired
  • Landowner would hire shepherds to help with there harvest
  • They would move mountain pastures in the summer

  • Farming was very important in their lives
  • Wheat and barley was one of the most important crops
  • Isrealite did NOT depend on irrigation for water
  • They grew crops according to yearly cycle and spells

  • Crops had an effect on economy and social life
  • Crop rotaion help the soil for the crops

  • Honi would pray to God for rain to help the crops grow
  • Honi's system was to draw a circle, raise his hand and ask God for rain

  • The craft that they did were like baking and sewing
  • When doing these skill they would do them in their house
  • Parent would teach their kids craft, so they could use it in the future

  • servants would go through labor
  • Differnt types of servants were anywhere from cooks to nanneys
  • Trust worthy servants were " highly valued" other had harder jobs

SLAVERY

  • Some slave were more educated then their master
  • Somtimes slave would have better opportunity with their master than on their own
  • Only thing was that they had no freedom
  • Some people sold them self into slavery to pay off debt

  • Majority of jods were to keep government in place

  • For maintaing governerment more people were needed

  • The government had a bad and unorganized system
