A presentation pertaining to my mental health and how to look out for it

Avoiding depression

  • Lack of motivation or loss of interest
  • An overall gloomy mood
  • Suicidal thoughts or actions (this includes self-mutilation)
  • Any emotional or situational stressors in my life

Preventing Anxiety/Anxiety Attacks

  • Take my medicine
  • Try and look at things that make me anxious and find there is no harm
  • Take deep breaths (to avoid an anxiety attack)
  • Remove myself from the situation or talk about it with someone

avoiding Alcoholism

  • Avoid drinking, especially underage drinking
  • After I'm 21, drink only in  moderation
  • Have someone observe my drinking habits (so it's not out of hand)

Avoiding Social Anxiety

  • It's a mild case, so I can realize it's unreasonable 
  • Therapy sessions and talking helps quite a bit
  • I can take my medication to prevent attacks

Phobia of Heights

  • I have an acute and irrational fear of heights (I admit it)
  • I can try to detach myself from the situation  
  • My mom is afraid of heights, so it runs in the family
  • I've talked to my therapist about my fear and that helped
  • My medications also help
