MT. KILIMAJARO

  • The origin of the name "Kilimanjaro" is not precisely known, but a number of theories exist
  • Kilimanjaro is composed of three distinct volcanic cones
  • It is the highest mountain in Tanzania,
  • the highest mountain in Africa, and the highest free-standing mountain in the world

ATLANTIC OCEAN

  • The Atlantic Ocean is the second largest of the world's
  • With a total area of about 106,400,000 square kilometres
  • it covers approximately 20 percent of the Earth's surface and about 29 percent of its water surface area.
  • The first part of its name refers to Atlas of Greek mythology, making the Atlantic the "Sea of Atlas".

MADAGASCAR

  • Madagascar, officially the Republic of Madagascar
  • In 2012, the population of Madagascar was estimated at just over 22 million, 90 percent of whom live on less than two dollars per day.
  • The monarchy collapsed in 1897 when the island was absorbed into the French colonial empire
  • Madagascar split from India around 88 million years ago

  • The mountains have been home to a number of plant and animal species
  • many of them are endangered and some have already gone extinct.
  • running generally southwest to northeast to form the geologic backbone of the countries of the Maghrib
  • They extend for more than 1,200 miles

  • The Indian Ocean is the third largest of the world's oceanic divisions, covering approximately 20% of the water on the Earth's surface.
  • It is bounded by Asia
  • Indian Ocean is delineated from the Atlantic Ocean by the 20° east meridian
  • The Indian Ocean's volume is estimated to be 292,131,000 km³

RED SEA

  • The Red Sea is a seawater inlet of the Indian Ocean
  • lying between Africa and Asia.
  • The Red Sea has a surface area of roughly 438,000 km²
  • It is about 2250 km (1398 mi) long and, at its widest point, 355 km

HORN OF AFRICA

  • The Horn of Africa is almost equidistant from the equator and the Tropic of Cancer.
  • It consists chiefly of mountains uplifted through the formation of the Great Rift Valley,
  • The lowlands of the Horn are generally arid in spite of their proximity to the equator.
  • It covers approximately 2,000,000 km² (770,000 sq mi) and is inhabited by roughly 100 million people
