CABBAGE

  • High in fiber and vitamin K
  • Known as a nutritional powerhouse
  • Ready to harvest at 70 days
  • 1-3 pound heads at full growth
  • Needs to be fertilized 3 weeks after planting

ONIONS

  • High in Vitamin C
  • Plant in March, harvest in later summer
  • Need full sunlight
  • Needs soil rich in nitrogen
  • Fertilize every few weeks with nitrogen

CARROTS

  • Needs deeply tilled soil
  • Fertilize 5-6 weeks after planting
  • Reaches full growth at 2 1/2 months
  • Only 25 calories and great source of Vitamin A

POTATOES

  • 80% water
  • Plant 2 weeks after last spring frost
  • Water regularly
  • Ready to harvest in July

STRAWBERRIES

  • Reduce the risk of heart disease and certain cancers
  • Must provide enough space when planting
  • Requires lots of water
  • Ready for harvest after 4-6 weeks after blossoming
  • Only pick fully red (ripe) berries
