my reason

  • Reading has always been my passion since 1st grade.
  • Although I am not a slow reader, I want to become much faster.
  • I will be able to experience adventures in a shorter amount of time.
  • Also, it will help me greatly throughout my academic career.

What was my process?

  • I first began by researching what to avoid when trying to read.
  • Then, I researched the good habits to have when reading.
  • Next, I looked deeply into various ways I can increase my speed.
  • Lastly, I found how to pace myself when reading.

For the future

  • I plan on continuing my journey in becoming a faster reader.
  • I want to take more tests to increase my speed throughout my school life.
  • By the end of eighth grade, my goal is to reach at least 900 wpm.

what to avoid

  • Sub-vocalization
  • Regression
  • Multi-tasking when reading

how do you increase your reading speed?

  • You can take online courses that tell you what you do and don't do right.
  • Also, you should train your eyes to be able to analyze information quickly.
  • The main method I used was the PX Project.

THE PX PROJECT

  • Minimizes the number and duration of fixations per line to decrease time
  • Eliminates regression and back-skipping to increase speed
