An invasive species is a living thing that comes from different parts around the world that affect our environment and harm some animals habitats.

There are invasive species affecting our environment. Luckily we have many ways to stop them.

Some invasive species are plants. Luckily people found out that goats will eat almost anything. The plan was to have goats eat invasive plants such as Asiatic bittersweet, multiflora, and some kinds of honeysuckle. These are some invasive plants. It will take several years before the goats eat all the invasive plants. This is one way of how to stop invasive species.

This is a plant called saltcedar. It is native to Europe. People brought it to the United States to make the United States more pretty. Scientists are testing saltcedar to see if it would be useful in building homes. Then people could chop less wood from trees to build homes, and we could also get rid of an invasive plant by doing something that could help the environment!

This is a lionfish. It is also an invasive species. It came from the western Pacific Ocean. It now is invading the Florida Keys and the Caribbean Sea. People are decreasing the population of lionfish by cooking them in restaurants and eating them. Most people think it actually tastes good. When the food gets more popular the population of lionfish will decrease more.

Invasive species may affect our environment, but it also helps it to. Think about it, the goats eat the invasive plants for food, the saltcedar could be useful in building homes so we could chop less wood from trees, and people eat lionfish for food. All of this helps our environment, and it also helps get rid of invasive species. Maybe one day people could figure out how to get rid of all the invasive species in the world.
